I am amazed of what I find lately about vaccines. As a new parent I also face the question whether to vaccinate my little baby boy. The video raises once again the question: Is MMR shot causes autism in children? Two parents tell their story….
Wow, that is an emotional topic. My heart goes out the family. Seeing both sides of the issue: Do the parents have the right to refuse vaccinations? Does the government have the right to step in a protect the child by administrating the vaccinations without parents consent? I was hopeful when I heard CDC considers this a very important issue with public interest and recommends additional research. I can only hope that advances in technology with either create safe vaccines or show that current vaccines are already safe.
This really is a sad topic. It is important though that it receives attention. There are valid arguments for both sides. I actually work with a boy who was diagnosed with autism at age 3. His mother is absolutely convinced that his vaccinations are to blame. The time at which he starting showing symptoms coincided with when he received the vaccines. She feels so strongly about this that she has decided not to vaccinate her other 3 children. It is a bold move, and a very difficult decision for parents to make. She still sends her children to public school despite the fact that vaccines are typically required. She states that she has a "strong moral objection" against the idea and is therefore allowed.
I think this is a diffcult thing. I have a son that has a lot of health issues and everytime I take him for shots I'm afraid something is going to happen like Autism. But the schools demand the shots. Theye have to have them or they can't be in school. But it's really scarey.
