FDA allows aspartame in different foods and beverages while many researchers have proven that it is toxic to the human body. The public is just not aware to what it can do to them. Watch the video and get educated about what can harm you.

I NEVER eat anything containing aspartame. If I do, it is because I'm at a restaurant or being served dinner at someone else's house and am unaware. Why would anyone consume something that effects your body negatively on a cellular level? All of these unnatural chemicals we are replacing real food with I find to be very suspicious, especially considering new mysterious diseases like autism, which continues to increase among new generations.
ReplyDeleteIts not just aspartame. Its saccharine and other artificial sweeteners too. If it causes cancer in lab rats, what makes scientists think it won't cause harm to humans too? Even if it is in large doses. After all humans aren't that different genetically from other mammals.
ReplyDeleteI am really not happy about how our generation is basically the lab rat of the many different drugs that are being made. Drug manufacturers just want to make money and don't test new drugs as thoroughly as they should. Then they find out certain drugs either cause cancer or some other unexpected type of death. Many drugs are being recalled due to exactly this.
I used to be a BIG aspartame consumer, but over the years I have taken what one was a staple completely out of my diet. The negative effects that it was having on my body were horrible and each and every day the FDA continues to endorse this product that is potentially dangerous to humans and is know to cause cancer and leukemia in lab animals.
ReplyDeleteIn addition to aspartame there are so many other foods that are dangerous to humans and our bodies. I think that people need to really look into the foods that they are consuming. Much of the attention about food consumption has been placed on high fat foods. Numerous states are passing laws requiring accurate food labels and nonuse of certain oils, but you do not see anything about chemicals in foods and banning them.
We are each responsible for ourselves and our own bodies so it is up to us to be aware of what we are putting into them. Bodies are like well oiled machines, if treated properly they will last a long time.

This is such a scary thought. As a consumer, i assume things that are allowed to be put on the shelves of my local food market are safe. Now all of the sudden things such as this are coming out saying "this may cause cancer". I use products with aspartame in it on a daily basis, and reading this article caused me start rethinking my diet. I am aware that you should be held responsible for everything that you put into your body and not place the blame on someone else, but it seems as if everything these days have some link to cancer. Maybe we should stop altering foods and the animals who produce these foods, and start thinking of a more natural approach.
ReplyDeleteThis video brings to light the question of whether technologically engineered artificial additives of any kind are truly safe enough to be widely used in food and beverages. FDA approval is based solely on research available at the time a drug or additive is presented for review. The FDA can not possibly know all of the potential future risks that additives pose to consumers. FDA approved drugs like Vioxx were subsequently withdrawn from the market when some consumers experienced life threatening heart problems after taking the drug as directed. Even scarier are nutritional supplements that don’t even get FDA review before they are placed in stores for consumers to purchase.
ReplyDeleteIt is interesting that society embraces the use of artificial sweeteners as contributing to a healthy lifestyle when they may actually be detrimental to one’s health. Artists and advertisers produce fancy packaging to market all types of products, healthy or not with a small disclaimer on the packaging. Consumers want to be the thin, tan, beautiful, unconstipated person depicted in the ad rather than themselves. Picture the colorful, refreshing Crystal Light ads. We will drink anything that looks like the picture of health in advertising. I know my body can break down and utilize natural sugars. I’m not sure the same is true of artificial sweeteners. Consumers need to become educated about the products they put in and on their bodies chasing the fountain of youth.
Actually aspartame is one of the things my doctor told me I had to stay away from. I, unfortunately, have a thyroid problem and aspartame actually aggravates the issue even more. So, being more "in-the-know" about it is really helpful. But it really does bring to light many questions about how much of what we consume is potentially hazardous for us. How much of what we eat on a daily basis actually holds chemicals and man-made byproducts that are slowly eradicating our immune systems? I suppose that, like most everything, artificial sweeteners are seen as a bittersweet idea. Yes, they're harmful for you in the future, but at the moment it saves you from useless calories? Are the calories saved truly worth the after effects?
ReplyDeleteThe particular problem with the FDA is they don't approve or disapprove of something until something near-fatal or fatal happens. Until a certain product gets mass attention in the media, in a negative way, the FDA seems to ignore the new products out there. And unfortunately, even when these products do get the stamp of approval by the FDA its clear that they haven't looked at long term effects.
Wow I am shocked as to what I have heard in that youtube video. It is very informative and at the same time very scary as to what is put in food. I can't believe that the FDA is as liberal as to what they allow to be put in human bodies whether food or medicine.
